I strongly SUPPORT this proposal.
Nowadays, I am studying in a Chinese university and seeking to apply to American university for further study. It’s very attractive for me to have an opportunity to work with different kinds of people. In other words, I want to have a chance to communicate with people from diversity countries and work with them to solve some extremely difficult problems and invest some innovated products. I always believe that different people, especially those who have diversity cultures and customs, will have various opinions and ideas which is extremely important to American companies. Meanwhile, we cannot deny that working with different people can help students, like me, broaden our horizon so we can be more competitive after we return to our home country. Compared to studying and living in my home country, studying in America will cost much more money, so it’s understandable that I want to have the ability to earn more money after I returned my home country. If America cannot provide international students chances to work in American company, many people will try to pursue their academic work in another country which is a severe detriment to US universities and a loss of massive intelligent, hardworking and smart students.
International students are usually young so they are more innovated and talented. Many famous scientists had breakthroughs when they were young and we cannot deny that America is a country of immigrants and it has benefited a lot from immigrants. We can also take massive examples.
Some people claim that those international students will compete with local people. I do agree that more competition mean that this country can develop much faster. America can benefit from it in the lone run because it will urge American to work more efficiently and effectively and perfect their skills. Still, working with international can help them widen their horizons. Today many American companies have branches in other countries which means that American should be acquainted with different countries’ policy and costumes. I believe the most efficient way for American to have that ability is working with international people.

I strongly support the proposal. This proposal would save the decreasing competitiveness of the United States.

More and more STEM and other highly educated students are going to further their study in countries beside the US. And US is losing its competitiveness because other countries are providing better offers. My cousin has chosen the University of Manchester to study Electrical Engineering while he was also admitted by Vanderbilt University. This is because in UK, with compact course schedule, he can get his degree in less than 15 months, while in US it would normally take 2 years. Many of my collage classmates are now in Germany pursuing their Master's degree in EE. They only need to pay 200 euro on registration, and their tuition is covered by German government.

Highly educated students and researchers are key to a country's competitiveness and creativity, but what US has done is not enough. If US failed to pay STEM and other major students a better environment, US would lose in the long run.

They oppose opt-extension because foreigners will compete with our children and will do harm to them. But this is a fallacious reason. Have you ever heart of Catfish Effect? Our STEM foreigners are Catfish, what they are doing is making our children more competitive in the future. It is them that make your children know that no pain no gain. It is them that make our children feel nervous and more sedulous. Our protection is harmful to our children. Without foreign competitors, our children may say, oh, it is ok to play truant because there are many jobs waiting for me. Do you want our children to always feel safe and become shiftless? As an old saying goes, Adversity makes men prosperity. If you really want to do good to our children, to our future, we need those catfish to push our children, to make them work harder at school, to make them more competitive.
