. From 1point 3acres bbsUnited States is built upon technologies. How could an American search on Google, share thoughts on Facebook, shop on Amazon, or use the high-tech Apple products? It is because so many international technologists build these companies up.

How could so many American financial companies make so much money on Wall Street? How could an  American enjoy so many financial services? One main reason is so many international mathematicians and quants build up a lot of cutting-edge financial models and provide system support for the banking system.

International students, especially STEM students, has made a great contribution to the American economy. They also paid a great amount of tuition for US universities. Without these students, US education system would suffer a much tighter financial budget. Should this happen, it would be hard for US to have such advanced education system, and continue to be the lead in technology and science in the world any more.

In history, American is a land for immigrants, and is built up by immigrants. Anyone who can contribute should be able to live on this continent.

I support the extension of OPT.

I think this rule will continue to expand the US influenceto other countries by promoting the cultural understanding. There are more and moreforeign students with US study background start to contribute to US economy. China, the world's biggest exporter of foreign students to the U.S., has become alarge source of donations for the Ivy League. In July 2014, SOHO China ChiefExecutive Zhang Xin and her husband, Pan Shiyi, signed a $15 million giftagreement with Harvard University as part of their $100 million endowment tosend underprivileged Chinese children to elite universities around the world. In2010, Lei Zhang, the founder and managing partner of Hillhouse CapitalManagement, said he would give $8,888,888 to Yale University, which marked thelargest gift to the Yale School of Management by a graduate of the school. Theseforeign students definitely do not cause the high unemployment rates. In contrast, they will create more jobs in US after the training. For the people who objectthis rule, I ask you to change your biased opinion and maintain a friendly environmentfor these foreign students with bright future.

I'm surely to support this new policy not just because it's beneficial to international students but also it's beneficial to US people too.
I think it's really abvious that international students are very significant to a lot of US people, such as the people in the education system and the landlords. As a Chinese student, i would say that the US is NOT the only choice to get education, because sometimes the policy like OPT could be the most reason for us to choose where to go and recently, some countries like Australia have really nice, friendly policies for international students to work there. I must say these policies are very attractive to us, so many of my classmates are applying for Australia's universities, as for me, i apply for both Australia and America because i know that some students don't get an OPT and have to come back to China which means they don't have much time to improve their language skills and get an international horizon, but that is why we want to go to America.
Every year, there are so many Chinese students choose America to get education, which is beneficial to US's education system and economy. But you should know that because of the unfriendly working policy, many students have changed their decision and i think it is a bad news for US.
There's no doubt that US is still very attractive to Chinese students and i think if this new policy comes true, it's beneficial to US and you know the reason.

I strongly support the OPT extension for the following reasons and examples that are real existing in my life:
.--
One of my knowledgeable professors, Dr. Jayant Baliga is from India. He holds PhD degree from RPI. He is an internationally recognized expert on power semiconductor devices. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the IEEE. He invented, developed and commercialized the Insulated Gate Bipolar Trannsistor (IGBT), which is extensively used in the consumer, industrial, lighting, transportation, medical, renewable energy, and other sectors of the economy. It has enabled enormous reduction of gasoline and electrical energy use, resulting in huge cost savings to consumers, and reduction of world-wide carbon dioxide emissions. He received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, the highest form of recognition given to an engineer by the United States Government, from President Obama in October 2011, at the White House. Companies like CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive, TSMC, ROHM, Fuji are completing with US companies particular in this field. Imagine, if there is no OPT. Foreign talents like him will go back to India, Japan or China and develop the new technology ahead of US tech companies and create more jobs in other counties. US will lose the leading role in this cutting technology and lose the chance to create more jobs for US citizens.

Not only Dr. Baliga, but also many other professors, who are from foreign countries, are making great contributions and create more jobs to US. Examples like Dr. Mehmet Ozturk from Turkey, who is a IEEE fellow contributing to Silicon and Silicon-Germanium Epitaxy in Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Integrated Circuits, which is crucial to the advancement of computer technologies. He holds PhD from NCSU. With these foreign talents, there will be more advancement of manufacturing skills, making US the leading role; With skills of manufacturing these devices, there will be more and more jobs for US citizens. Imagine, if there is no OPT, there will be no such advancement or at much much slower speed; if no or much much slower speed, other countries like China, India, Japan will be ahead of US and less jobs will be created for US citizens.

The newly opened PowerAmerica Institute is trying to put the manufacturing skills into real practice and hire more and more US citizens. Imagine, if there is no OPT, less and less foreign students will come to study, no such or much much slower speed of developing these manufacturing technologies will be, and there will be less and less jobs for US citizens. If this continues, after several decades, or even after one decade, US will become the second UK in history, and give the first place in technology to China, Japan or India.
