Just want to make it clear about one misleading point in (a lot of) comment(s): Foreign students DO pay taxes and DO NOT learn and work at the American taxpayer's expense.

1) Foreign students who work in U.S., no matter on-campus work or off-campus work, they pay taxes. The only difference between foreign students and local American people is that there's a signed treaty that American government and foreign government will exempt certain amount of income from taxation. It is a equal treaty applies to Americans working in foreign country and foreigners working in U.S.. For countries do not have such treaty with U.S., their citizens DO pay taxes while working on American soil.

2) Foreign students who use American public education resources, pay for what they use. There's a non-resident fee specifically applied to foreign students making them to pay at least twice as much as local American students, or even more in some schools. They do not learn at American taxpayers' expense.

3) As a matter of fact, foreign students pay taxes when they are working in U.S. but they are not able to enjoy the benefit because of current immigration policy. That's why there's tax reduction or exemption for students who work under OPT, and that's why this policy makes sense and needs to be retained and expanded.

OPT extension benefits not only foreign students but also US citizens from the long term perspective. Since competition is the first cause for evolution. It weeds out the weak, especially the laziness of human beings. It leads to self improvement. Driving those international students out may provide some positions for us citizens for a very short time. However, absorbing those smart and highly educated international students into the whole industry here will definitely lead to a positive competition mechanism and can create more job opportunities for all the people who is believe in American Dream and do their best to fight for it. History shows everything. Qing Dynasty of China, an really anti-foreign period leads to a tragedy which reduce the national power of China to a huge extent. So I strongly support OPT extension!

I think we should oppose to the Indian Consulting Companies(ICC) and illegal immigrants rather than the international STEM students. It's obvious that keeping the STEM students benefit much more and harm much less to the Americans than keeping the ICC workers and illegal immigrants. Why?

The international students pay high tuition fees to support our education system and those STEM students who graduate and find a job from here are high-level talents for the tech industry and science research field. I don't think they have any problems in finding a job in their home countries or other countries if we kick them out. However, the Indian Consulting Companies transport tens of thousands of low level workers who not even have a college degree from India or US every year and steal most of the H1B jobs, and the illegal immigrants are the main group to steal most of the low wage jobs. So why we are so mad of the STEM student rather than ICC works and illegal immigrants?
