.google  иI strongly SUPPORT the new STEM OPT extension proposal since it can be BENEFICIAL to U.S.’s ECONOMY in variable ways.

United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, etc are countries that attract many international student to study abroad. Among these countries, U.S. is more preferred than the others not only because the high quality education it provided, but also the OPT policy that allows students to have a chance to put what they learn into practice. Both of the process, learning and working, is beneficial to US’ economy.

While domestic students who study in public school are paying tuitions and fees in a low rate and have lots of opportunities to receive scholarship, international students are paying their tuitions and fees much much more than that with relatively little chance for scholarship. How can government support all the domestic students by only receiving that low amount of tuition? How can the public schools get enough cash flow to maintain their operation? Tuitions paid by international students have always been an important source for the US public schools. When an US students receives financial aid or scholarships, when the schools decided to build an new building or dorm or library… these just a few example how international students can contribute to the US’ economy and to the ACADEMIC SECTORS, THE BIGGEST BENEFICIARIES. So the STEM OPT extension is important and a must-do to help US schools remain competitive comparing with all the other countries. Only in this way can US academic sectors remain competitive and attract talent people from all over the world.

After international students graduate and start to work, their definitely continue to makes contribution to the economy. They contributes to the firms who hires STEM students and they PAY TAXES, for sure! Extended practical period will allows international students have enough time to contribute to the companies with higher quality, since one with 2 more years of work experience would be able to provide more insight idea and think deeper.

Basic necessities of life such as food or a living place are definitely not free. And it is another aspect how the international students can contribute to U.S. economy. As is indicated by Institute of terminational education in the report Economic Impact of International Students, “In 2014, the continued growth in international students coming to the U.S. for higher education had a significant positive economic impact on the United States. International students CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN $27 BILLION to the U.S. economy, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Open Doors 2014 reports that about 74 percent of all international students receive the majority of their funds from sources outside of the United States, including personal and family sources as well as assistance from their home country governments or universities. Students from around the world who study in the United States also contribute to America's scientific and technical research and bring international perspectives into U.S. classrooms, helping prepare American undergraduates for global careers, and often lead to longer-term business relationships and economic benefits.” (http://www.iie.org/Research-and-Publications/Open-Doors/Data/Economic-Impact-of-International-Students)

All in all, the extension to STEM OPT is NECESSARY and it is an WIN-WIN solution for both the U.S. citizens and international students. There is no harm for U.S. economy to be sound and steady, right?
