我的核心论据是make了一个情境：一个company A，每年要5个data scientst，on average雇佣两个美国人，并且由于美国人学math的很少，这个职位又对math要求挺高，所以只好每年再雇佣三个外国人；同时呢，需要大约六个月training 才能让每个新员工成为熟练工。
在过去的OPT政策下，公司A的外国员工，即使没能抽到OPT，也至少能为公司提供两年高效率有产出的工作；可是新的OPT如果取消延长，这个company A 就会不敢再雇佣外国人因为有high risk “training完了OPT就快到期了，一旦抽不到工卡就白白花钱费力train了”；可是与此同时美国人又没有什么人fit这个位置，所以就蛋疼嗝屁，推而广之类似事件多发的话，经济会很快出现影响。。

I'm not a STEM major, but i strongly support the OPT STEM extension. Most of my friends who are STEM major came to the U.S. for undergrad with financial support/scholarship from the University. Many of them continue to grad school, and excel in their research or internships. They are intelligent, hard-working, and dedicated to their career. And after the U.S. universities have invested so much in their education, it's a joke that the U.S. government forces these talented young people to find jobs in other countries because they can not legally work in the States (while so many illegal immigrants are able to work legally).

Most people who object the OPT believe us foreign students are stealing jobs from the Americans. But this is not true. Think about the cost for an organization to hire an international student versus an American student -- the cost of hiring a lawyer and filing for job visa can easily cost a company more than $6,000. So it's actually cheaper to hire a U.S. citizen. When companies decide to hire an international student, it's always because he/she is better qualified for the job, and the company sees more value in investing in him/her. As the government, you shouldn't listen to the complaints from people who can't find a job (they can't blame others for being more competent), instead, listen to what companies are saying. Think about what is best for your economy. When every nation in the world is fighting to keep talents and striving to seek global talents, the U.S. is the only country that does the opposite. Well done, well done. The other countries should really thank the U.S. for delivering top talents to them.

My favorite NBA team is Spurs, which is one of the most successful NBA team in recent decades. You know what? Among the 15 players in Spurs, 9 of them are international players. Spurs always welcomes international players. And this is one of main reasons why Spurs receives so many respects! No doubt, NBA is the best basketball association in the world, just like the education system and the job market of US. The secret that keep NBA highest-level is that it is open to the world and therefore it can attract the most talent players from the other countries.
It is the same with the OPT too! It is the OPT extension that attracts the most talent international students to study in America. If America closes its door to international students, America will lose it competitiveness and international students will go to other countries such as German, Canada, China etc., which will greatly improve other countries‘ education and economy.

I can not believe why there are people against this rule. There is no doubt that OPT extension will be super beneficial to America's economy and social development!

From what I have seen, international students have done great contribution to the country. They work hard and make huge profits to their companies, and because of the Labor Certificate, they didn't compete with citizens for their positions, because before they get hired, it has been proved that the company can not find qualified citizen for the position.

I don't know why there are so many people against this proposal. Think about it, if you only give F-1 students 1 year for opt, they will mostly not get the H1B visa, which means they will come back to their hometown after 1 year. These years more and more International students study in USA not only for the high education quality but also want to stay in USA at least work for several years to earn the tuition fee back. For most of the International students, study in USA is like an investment. If they only have 1 year working in USA, most of them will not get the investment money back! It will certainly stops many students who are planning to come USA!!!
I STRONGLY SUPPORT the proposal. International students can get a higher quality of education which can improve their abilities, and on the other side, they can
promote the economic benefit of USA. What a win - win game!!!
