The BMB department is among ten top NIH-funded biochemistrydepartments in the country. The bioinformatics has recently became oneof the UTMB priority areas with three tenure-track faculty hired lastyear and two new hires planned for that year. The postdoctoral fellowwill develop computational and statistical methods for analysis of thenext generation sequencing data and will have access to in-houseChIP-seq data. We are seeking excellent candidates who are highlymotivated and career-oriented. Candidates should have* Ph.D. inphysics, computer science, biology *or a related field. Successfulapplicants will have excellent programming skills (C/C++, Matlab,perl/python, R). Research experience in bioinformatics is desirable.
UTMB is located in Galveston, Texas, on a historical tropical islandin the Gulf of Mexico in the greater Houston area. UTMB is a part ofthe Gulf Coast Consortium for Bioinformatics, which offers excellentcross-disciplinary research and education opportunities.
