学校不能查sevis 查status change？

想让学校查sevis 看我status是不是因为抽中H1B 发生改变了

学校回复说：

Unfortunately, when it comes to H1b cases, the ISSO cannot check SEVIS for updates, as it is not in our capacity. Please consult with your company lawyer for updates.


记得学校可以查啊？

Thanks for your email. Due to the volume of students that we work with, we are unable to provide status information. Furthermore, the data that comes from USCIS to SEVIS is not always timely or accurate.  If you have questions about your H-1B visa application, you’d want to check with your H employer about their application on your behalf.

Additionally, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program Response Center is currently experiencing an unexpected high call volume and longer than normal wait times related to inquiries about H-1B petitions.

We have been advised to tell students seeking their H-1B status and who have a receipt number to contact the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) at 1 800-375-5283.  If the student does not have their receipt number, they should contact the employer that filed the original petition.
You can also take a look at the H-1B status page on Study in the States for additional information.

我们学校直接说不给查，说要求查的人太多了。

No, it is not usually noted in your SEVIS record. Only if your OPT ends before Oct. 1st, in which case it may show that your OPT was automatically extended because of your H1b application.

下面是我收到的回复，确认抽中的同学们也别忘了跟学校update一下。。

Unfortunately, we do not check SEVIS for H1-B updates at this time for several reasons. First the application is related strictly to your employment so you need to continue working with your employer for updates on your application. Second, not all applications are linked to SEVIS, and even some applications that are linked are delayed and the update does not show up in SEVIS in a timely fashion. Instead, we ask all students who are selected in the lottery to let us know so we can keep an eye on your SEVIS to ensure it does update properly, or make the required correction request to link your application to your SEVIS record.

I understand you are anxious to find out if you are selected or not, but it is our policy not to release this information.

所以说opt 明年过期的，查了也没用？

I got a reply from our International Student Office:

I just checked your (electronic) SEVIS record and I do not see any reference to the H-1B filing.  Sometimes the USCIS automatically links this information to the student’s SEVIS record but not always.  If the USCIS selects your petition for processing and your attorney/employer receives proof of receipt, please let us know.  Since your OPT is valid through 12/11/2017, you will not benefit or need the H-1B cap gap benefit, but either way please let us know.  Good luck!

其实主要是因为人家没义务给你查。天天都应付一群人来查SEVIS，工作还要不要做了………………本来就毕业前夕OPT高峰期了。

Yes, my OPT ends on 12/31/2017. ISC Advisor said checking SEVIS status doesn't apply to me, there is nothing noted about an H1b application in my SEVIS record though.....
