No shortcuts when collaborating [文章推荐 + 吐槽]

除了纯做理论的statistician之外，大家还是要跟各种人合作的
小K姐以前贴过一个链接 Biostatistics vs. Lab Research （youtube：http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbODigCZqL8 ），神吐槽，看了n遍之后还是很搞笑，不过需要合作的statistician来说，一点都不好玩。。。

Statistical analysis要是真的就是 plug-in numbers and push a button, monkey都能搞定啊。显然不是这样了。。。

Too many researchers regard statistics as a useful tool, but they think there is a single, straightforward way to address any particular question and that no sound judgment or creativity is required to achieve excellence. One may think of this like needing a Phillips screwdriver with a specific head size and going to the tool box to pick the right one.

上个学期小猪同学上了一门consulting课程，基本就是学生在一教授指导下，为学校的researcher提供免费statistical consulting service. 也碰到过那些拿着数据过来，想要问到一个可以解决他们问题的公式或者几行code。。。
还有，有的researcher只想得到他们想要的结果，就算你一再强调现在用的这个model assumptions不满足啊，某个variable不能就这么被当作categorical，等等等等，一旦适合的方法得不到他们想要看到的结果，还是会回到之前有问题的那个方法。。。。
