I do think that for Industrial Engineering program, you really have to go look at the school you applied and try your best to know what kind of job that the graduate usually getting, because it all depends, and it highly affected by the school culture or tridition.
Taking my case as an example. I graduated from Purdue, which is well ranked in IE decipline and has great faculty team. If you really look all the specifications... Purdue has a world class Human Factor faculty team, and very solid manufacturing & production faculty. . 1point3acres.com
.
Human factor is not a cutting edge field, where there are very few application in industry, I think the biggest application should be UI design of webpage or mobile apps.
Manufacturing & production is a triditional application of IE. Purdue has a lot of industry connections and that will help students find job easily. I think that's most of Purdue IE grads go to.
From what I know, Penn State is very similar with Purdue; Cornell and Columbia grads get a lot of oppurtunities in Wall Street. Gatech is the best choice if you want to do Supply Chain. And if you go to California (Berkeley or Stanford) you need to do programing... that's what every company is looking for in Silicon Valley. |
