英国硕士面试求教

昨天晚上收到了一封面试邀请，具体是这样说的
We have received your application for the MPhil in Nuclear Energy at the University of Cambridge and would like to arrange a short telephone interview.
Could you please give me some times that you will be available for interview during the next few days, along with your Skype ID (and a phone number as a backup) to call you on?
As part of the process, we are seeking you to write a short paper on a general energy topic that we will nominate.
We will send specific instructions closer to the date of the interview.

I should also note that there is a bit of an urgency in conducting this interview because of the funding deadlines you have applied for.
Therefore, it is highly desirable to conduct the interview either Thursday or Friday this week.

我有点不太明白这个写个小短文的意思是面试的时候写吗？求大神指点

面试前发了让提前写，面试的时候也没怎么问，说是形式
