Current Research Interest:
    1. Open source EDA tool development
    We are currently developing an ASIC/FPGA design flow called "Live flow"
    from HDL design -> simulation tool -> logic synthesis ->to Placement &Routing.
    For live we mean to get resulting feedback within 1 to 30 sec in any of the ASIC design steps
    without losing QoR.

    2. Computer Architecture
    "Every topic" in Computer Architecture

Requirement:
    - familiar with C++(must be) and any of the modern OO language(plus)
    - familiar with ASIC/FPGA design flow and industry tools
    - positive working/research altitude

Jose 基本上是Computer Architecture中生代裡面的大老，
在矽谷基本上是非常有名的教授,，業界學界人脈非常廣，
在各個 conference 皆可看到老師談笑風生的身影。

老師人非常nice很照顧學生，每年都會動用他的人脈主動幫學生找實習機會，
ucsc鄰近矽谷，搭配老師超廣的network，畢業之後找到好工作絕對是不成問題。

老師基本上是天才一個，永遠有源源不絕的 idea 湧現，好處是不用怕沒有研究題目，
當然如果你有自己的想法，他絕對會很開心的跟你一起 brainstorming，
且老師是實戰派的C++宗師，會直接參與 coding，常常看到老師半夜兩點上傳 code......

目前老師比較focus 在 Live flow的研發上，基於lgraph這個VLSI netlist database開發各式各樣的tool，
其中 live-synthesis 受到 Google TPU team 的採用，算是有業界認證。老師很積極的繼續向
其他公司(Microsoft, Intel, Xilinx)推銷這個 tool, 常常到這些公司演講，未來會有很多研究以及業界的機會。

-baidu 1point3acres實驗室今年畢業了三位Ph.D.學長，所以人手短缺中，
俗話說的好，申請美帝Ph.D.就是一個蘿蔔一個坑，現在坑來了，而且還是三個!

UCSC是個小而美的好學校，雖然排名乍看之下不是top，但是地緣加成，UC系列也加成，
今年computer science 和 computer engineering 兩個系所合併，預計世界排名會再往上衝刺，
另外系上個 Job fair 各大公司是一間也不少，同學們可以放心。

SC真的很不错，有一次我还专门去UCSC看了下，学校在山顶，一上去卫星定位都不准了。。。
