Masters of Arts program in Statistics here at Boston University.
Congratulations. From more nearly 400 applications in mathematics and
statistics, you have been selected
as one of the best.  You should receive an official e-mail from
the graduate school, followed by a hardcopy of the offer letter, in the
very near future.

I think you will find our joint department of mathematics and statistics a
stimulating place to study. Our 32 faculty, 18 postdocs, and
approximately 53 PhD students conduct research in a wide spectrum of areas
spanning mathematical statistics, theoretical probability, stochastic
processes, and areas of pure mathematics such as dynamical systems,
geometry, and number theory, to applications of statistics and mathematics
in bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, biostatistics, computer
science, computational neuroscience, geography, mathematical finance, math
biology, mechanical engineering, networks, and physics. Our collaborative
research projects offer our students unique interdisciplinary
opportunities through the joint grants with colleagues in these allied
fields. Also, many of our faculty have won prestigious fellowships, such
as Fulbrights, Guggenheims, Sloans, and NSF Career Awards, as well as
regional and national teaching awards.

I think you'll find that our faculty care deeply
about the academic and career success of our students, and
