哥大phd被拒要转ms还用多写一篇essay

申了哥大Phd被拒，刚才收到如下email

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the CS graduate programs at Columbia University.

On your PhD application, you indicated that you wanted to be considered for the CS MS program if your PhD application was not successful. The MS Admissions Committee would like to know if you are still interested in being considered for the MS program, particularly since you may have been offered PhD admission elsewhere.

If you are still interested in being considered for the MS program, please submit a short statement by March 28th 12:00pm (New York time) addressing how Columbia's MS program would help you realize your educational and career goals.

Please note that our MS program will not able to offer any form of financial assistance.

还要额外写一个statement，貌似以前没有吧，时间好紧。。。只给一天多时间
不打算去了，于是不写了
貌似可以少发一些不必要的offer

感觉要写个essay好奇葩啊

这个不是录取，是给一个申请的机会吧。。。
