Thomson International,  a produce supplier  based in Bakersfield, California, said on Saturday that it will recall all red, yellow, sweet and white onions shipped since May 1 because they may have salmonella virus. The company said that the US Food and Drug Administration is investigating the matter, and 396 cases of Salmonella have been confirmed nationwide. As of Friday, 59 people have been hospitalized. Cases have also occurred in Canada, with at least 516 people in both countries sickened. Grocery stores including Kroger and Walmart are also selling onions from Thomson International. The supplier’s recalled onions have been shipped to all states in the United States. These onions are also sold under various brands, including:
