optics 和 photonics有什么区别？

well,these terms are often used interchangablely.But,when we say optics, we mainly talk about the classical theory, because the word optics has been quite a long time. With respect to research, we use quantum optics, adaptive optics, and so on. However, the term photonics is kind of in analogy to electronics, and is relatively new. In fact, I guess it came to life after the invention of laser, which plays a significant role in our field. We use photonics to refer stuffs like fiber, semiconductor, and laser of course, for these devices in some sense manipulate the generation, transimation and detection of photons.
