The Liao Group in the School of Systems and Enterprises is recruiting one Ph.D. student starting at Fall 2021. The research group focuses on human-computer interaction (HCI) and engineering design of interactive products using human-centric approach and statistical models.
Desirable PhD applicants may have a background in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or other related fields. Prospective students should contact Prof. Ting Liao at tliao@stevens.edu directly with the subject line “Prospective graduate student,” and include a CV.

•        Integrating biomarkers and survey data to reveal design guidelines of wearable products
•        Designing social interactions in virtual environment
•        Calibrating user trust for autonomous products

•        Passion about design methodology and human-computer interaction
•        Ability to perform statistical analysis
•        Communication in English

优先考虑:
•        Proficiency in statistical learning models
•        Knowledge of experimental psychology or cognitive science
•        Experience in human-subject experiments

导师信息:
Ting Liao is an Assistant Professor in the School of Systems and Enterprises at Stevens Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Stevens, Ting Liao received her Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. Her research aims to enable products and product-based experiences that are governed by artificial intelligence and large masses of product usage data to be more trustworthy, socially desirable and sustainable with data-driven methods.
