According to a report from the Wall Street Journal on Monday, Biden, who won the general election, has selected Janet Yellen as the head of the Treasury Department. If confirmed by the Senate, Yellen will become the first woman to serve as Minister of Finance. Yellen will also be the first person to have led the Federal Reserve, the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and the Treasury Department.

Yellen will also face a series of huge challenges. Congress has yet to approve the new economic aid plan, and the two parties are fiercely divided on its size and scope. Biden recently urged the Democrats to formulate an expansionary relief plan, and Republicans have long ignored it. As treasury secretary, Yellen will be negotiating with the deadlocked Congress.  source
