- Thank you for contacting the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Please stand by for the next available representative.
- You are number 16 in queue.
- Thank you for contacting USCIS Contact Center, my name is ****. I'll be more than happy to help you today, do you currently have an A Number or a Receipt number?
- Hello! Thank you for helping me and happy new year. I do not have either number...
Here's what happened to me
- Do you have a general question today?. Waral dи,
- I mailed my I-765 application package to the Texas Lockbox, and it was delivered and received on 10/28/20. I have not even received a receipt notice
as a matter of fact, my info has not been entered into the system, the check has not been cleared by the bank.
most egregiously, my case is not an isolated case. ALL cases delivered to Texas Lockbox since 10/27/20 are not being processed. Χ
and yet the other lockbox, the one in Phoenix AZ, is processing the I-765 forms as usual and people are receiving their receipts and approval
this delay has caused tremendous amount of mental stress and financial burden on me. I am almost out of antidepressants, and without a job, I wouldn't be able to afford seeing a doctor
- I completely understand the situation but just from my understanding that lockbox is backed up because of COVID and it has caused alot of delays not just for the I-765.
- I do understand the general delay, but setting all I-765 applications aside is just not reasonable. Also the lockbox in AZ should be backed up too, and yet they are not postponing receipt issuing. I really wish USCIS could be aware of this issue and see what's going on in Texas. 1point 3 acres
- As I stated it is not just I-765 applications. All applications are delayed at this moment. Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do until a receipt number has been generated.
..
- Worst case scenario, since I am applying EAD based on OPT, if my application is rejected after 60 days post graduation, I will not be allowed to send a new application. Since the typical processing time is 15 days for receipt notice, and the lockbox did not give any explanation until Dec, would USCIS be held liable?
- As long as the application has been received you should be fine. Just because they have no issued a receipt as of yet does not take away that status. You just have to wait patiently for the notice unfortunately. You are not the only person waiting for a receipt notice right now. . Waral dи,
- That's my entire point. Everyone whose application was delivered since 10/27 is seeing a complete stop of processing meanwhile, other types of Forms are being processed
- I mean every I-765 applicant*
- It is not just I-765 applications as I already stated to you multiple times. ALL applications that is required to be sent to that lockbox is delayed currently. We are not able to do anything further at this point.
- So what is the lockbox doing now? If they're not processing anything at all? What are they doing with our tax dollars?
- They are processing the applications. It is just taking them time to issue the receipt notice's with the receipt numbers.
- In that case, how do we know if they are actually entering anyone's application?
I know you're trying to help me, sorry if I sound very belligerent. It's just very very frustrating for us...
- I understand. It is frustrating for us as well.
- after working on a PhD diligently for 5 years and now have to deal with this before starting a dream job
- COVID-19 was something not everyone expected. It has effected many different processes with USCIS. One of them being the delay of issuing receipts. As long as you sent the application to the appropriate office then you are fine. It's just waiting patiently. They just started this month issuing receipts from October.. ----
So it may be a while before getting the receipt.
- So. Are the lockbox facilities part of USCIS? Or are they contractors?. 1point 3 acres
I feel USCIS is actually quite reliable
- They are apart of USCIS. 万一你是笔误本来想写they are a part of USCIS...
- Well. We understand that USCIS has to take things slow since it's part of DHS and it's a national security issue. Due to covid, we are expecting delays. But the lockbox is really just purely incompetent...
- USCIS is reliable it's just this pandemic has slowed things down considerably.. check 1point3acres for more.
- and honestly I think it's really unfair that you guys have to hear complaints on the lockbox facility since it's not your fault
I understand but we are the middlemen and women.
- all frustration aside, I do think essential government employees should be given more credit
especially when the high level politicians seem to be just bickering days on end, you guys are actually making the real changes. 1point 3 acres
- Thank you! It mean's a lot to me.
- I mean at the end of day we're on the same boat lol. At the base level the political food chain lol
Agreed.
- So I understand a lot of students facing the same problem have been in contact with Tier 2 agents, DHS Ombuds, US Congresspeople, etc. Is it possible for me to talk to a Tier 2 agent as well? I feel the only way to get things done is to complain lol
- We have access to the same thing tier 2 has access too. I can schedule a callback but it will take 7 business days to get a callback just to be told the same thing I provided.
I'm just trying to save you time.
- Hmm I think that's all the questions I have. Sorry for the tantrum before. Thank you so much and Happy New Year!!
