下面是邮件本体和小秘的回答
Dear Sir or Madam, I am an undergraduate student from China and I am planning to apply for M.S. program in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University (College Station). I have checked the application system. But I still have several questions to ask or confirm.
1. What materials should I mail to the department before the application deadline? Scanned Official Transcript, financial statement of support, Letters of recommendation, or any other materials you have required? A:http://admissions.tamu.edu/international/graduate this link will provide you with the REQUIRED documentation and HOW it is to be sent…scanned transcripts are NOT official documents 2. Do I have to issue my transcripts from evaluation services (i.e. World Education Services or Josef Silny)? A:You must provide a transcript in your native language and an official translation. 3. I notice that a Statement of Purpose is required for applicants. But the requirement of SOP is not very clear. Could you give me some information about the length and content of Statement of Purpose? A: One to 1 ½ pages…a Statement of Purpose is a paper telling the purpose of your application 4. At applytexas.org I find the Essay Requirements which shows the topics of required essays. Does that mean I should submit at least three essays to complete my applications? If so, could you give some information about the length of required essays? A: Other than the Statement of Purpose, no other essays are required for the Graduate Program 5. Do you know the average scores of GPA, TOEFL and GRE of the students admitted in 2013 FALL? It will be so kind of you if you could give me some information related to that. A: Last semester’s numbers are not relevant to admission because the “averages” differ each semester. The facts are: this is an extremely competitive institution…all students MUST maintain a 3.0 GPA every semester and must have a final GPA of 3.0 to graduate…University requires a GRE of 146 verbal minimum…GRE quantitative of 155 is in the competitive range for Civil Engineering…Civil Engineering requires a TOEFL score of 100…IF you do not have the minimum test scores, you CAN still apply, the reviewers take the entire application into consideration for admission. 6. One of my professor agreed to recommend me for my application, but he asked me to use his public email instead of one ended with .edu. I wonder if it's OK to use public mailbox for the recommendation letter. A: ApplyTexas does not send out recommendation requests…When you apply, you will receive an email from the university supplying you with A) your UIN (Universal Identification Number) which is exclusively yours and should be included in all email correspondence; B) instructions on creating your NetID to access Howdy and AIS (applicant information sustems); and C)AIS is where you monitor your application – there is a link “add/manage recommenders” that you add the email addresses of the recommenders and AIS will email a request. 7. Could you give me some specific admission statistics? Such as how many students do you plan to admit this year? A:We have several hundred applications each semester and openings are based on the number of students that have graduated…You need to have a complete application to be reviewed, no partial ones go through…
