Harvard 生统M.S.新项目 附小蜜回复介绍

About your questions below, I have no idea how many international applicants they plan to admit.  This is the first year of the program, and I'm not sure the program directors know at this point. :)  But there is a good chance that they may accept quite a few because for the first year, the application pool may be smaller.  Anyone who applies to the "concentration" under Biostatistics or Epidemiology will be moved to the new program.  We will then make sure that the program directors for the new degree receive the applications, and review them separately from the Biostatistics or Epidemiology applications.  The process is being determined now, and will be fine-tuned through this application year.

昨天收到了这个录取.. FALL 2015 有人一起吗？我美本统计专业 class of 2015。这个项目感觉和生统很像 包括了生统的几乎所有理论课longitudinal/survival analysis/linear and logistic regression.. 除了纯统计的两门theoretical stat（太棒了.. 因为好一点的统计美本都已经包含了这两门.. 而且我数学很一般.. 本科学这两门很累..）而且这项目比生统更注重computing+big data。从我本科的经验来看（统计实验室+full time statistician）， computing+big data以后会是统计类工作的最重要的点了（对的基本都在被当程序员使..） 这项目focus的是genomic big data 学起来可能有点专，但我觉得computing能力应该通用的吧。另外这个项目title虽然有biology和genetics.. 但我本科完全没上过任何bio和gene的课竟然也被录了.. 估计他们还是stat为主..    alright 个人理解仅做参考

意思是申请了biostat如果没过 会被转到这个项目？

这方向好找工作么？

不知道埃，但CS的training也会有吧，现在做Bioinformatics的太多了
