Berkeley的Personal History Statement的疑问

Berkeley关于这个Personal History Statement有好几种要求：

Required of all applicants. Please note that the Personal History Statement should not duplicate the Statement of Purpose.

Please describe how your personal background informs your decision to pursue a graduate degree. Please include information on how you have overcome barriers to access higher education, evidence of how you have come to understand the barriers faced by others, evidence of your academic service to advance equitable access to higher education for women, racial minorities, and individuals from other groups that have been historically underrepresented in higher education, evidence of your research focusing on underserved populations or related issues of inequality, or evidence of your leadership among such groups.

这个到底应该怎么写？写过去的经历的话感觉和Statement of Purpose重复了，如果不能重复的话那我写的经历又和申请的方向无关。。。

能不能写和申请方向没什么关系的经历呢？

问下这是申请Berkeley所有项目都要的吗？字数有要求?他家PS字数要求是什么？

纯个人想法，history的就写那种成长型的，就是中国学生喜欢的那种从小到大怎么样喜欢这个专业最后为什么要出国深造之类的，PS就写得纯专业，把自己学的课和做的东西和这个项目的方向联系到一起，还有对这个项目课纯程设计怎么怎么好之类的。

额。。history的要求你看看，好像不是这样的，貌似要写一些志愿者工作的东西。。

我被搞糊涂了

'Please describe how your personal background informs your decision to pursue a graduate degree.' 这一句不就是说的：你怎样会想到要来我这获得这个学位的呢？你的背景如何反映出这一点的？  后面那些也不是说志愿者的事情吧，是说在人生中面临困境和不平等是怎么克服困难的吧

——纯个人意见~  还有你还没回答我的问题呢~~~申请Berkeley所有项目都要的吗？字数有要求?他家PS字数要求是什么？

额，是的，Berkeley的每个项目应该都要提交这篇personal history statement和另一篇statement of purpose。。

字数什么的应该没要求把
