The Mechanical and industrial Engineering Department (MIE) at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) is
seeking applications for multiple highly motivated PhD student and one Post-Doc to conduct research in
the area of fluid mechanics, non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, and suspensions.
Applicants are expected to have a strong background in Fluid mechanics and Fluid dynamics. Candidates
with expertise on computational methods/CFD and/or hands-on experience in fluid mechanics and in
technologies such as particle image velocimetry (PIV) and micro-PIV measurements are preferred.
Excellent communication and written skills are required along with demonstrated success in previous
academic research. Additionally, the selected candidates will be expected to oversee undergraduate and
master students, collaborate with the team members, and write reports and publish peer-reviewed journal
articles.
