Do you think employers care for ABET-accreditation though?
For Computer Science degrees? No.
For Software Engineering degrees? No.-baidu 1point3acres
For All Information Systems degree variants? No..1point3acres
For all Information Technology degree variants? No.
For all Cybersecurity degree variants? No.
For Data Science / Information Science degree variants? No.

The 'E' in ABET stands for Engineering, whereas the 'S' in CS stands for Science - that's the reason a lot of popular CS programs aren't ABET accredited... The ones that are accredited are usually the CS programs which are housed within Engineering colleges... But don't worry, nobody really cares about it, employers and educators included.
For CS it's really not important - as far as I know the patent office might be the only employer who cares.. From 1point 3acres bbs
ABET is far more influential when it comes to traditional engineering fields where state licensure is important in professional practice - civil engineering especially.. Waral dи,

it doesn't matter. literally stanford and cmu cs aren't ABET accredited.

I’ve conducted hundreds of engineering interviews when working at FB and not once do I recall seeing anything about ABET on a resume. I’ve never even heard of it until today. I don’t think anyone in the software industry cares about it. It’s more about what you know and what you can do than where you’re from. |
