I strongly support this extension.

The United States of America is founded by the people from all over the world. Several hundreds

year ago, people from all other countries came to this land to seek their dreams. At that time,

they didn't need to worried about whether they had the authority to work here, how happy they

are!

Why things change so tremendously? Why people hold the same dreams become more and more

difficult to stay here? Why can't we have more time to realize our dream here?

There is no wiser proposal like this one. Don't be hesitated, approve it!

我说到了几个点：
1. International students with high tech skills learnt from US should serve US.
2. Pay tax
3. Valuable to companies as Americans do not choose these majors
4. With more than 2 years working  experience will more likely to do business with US after come back.

A lof of American citizens are concerned that the new OPT extension rule will saturate the job market and lead to a decrease of their living standard. However, the OPT extension will, in fact, contribute to the well-being of American citizens for the following reasons:
1. The OPT extension rule will attract far more international students to America. Only a small portion of these students will eventually stay. Most students benefit the US economy by paying a huge amount for housing, tuition, food, service, etc and leave the US after graduation.
2. The US high-tech industry is driven by admitting highly-skilled foreign workers. In major US universities, there are a large number of foreign faculties. They are dedicated to research and develop new technologies which make the US the most innovative country in the world. US technology giants like Facebook, Google and Microsoft rely on highly-skilled international employees to stay on top of the competition. The American-only labour force will not be able to satisfy the need of the Universities and high-tech companies. They need foreign workers to have enough resource to keep the US economy youthful and full of potential.
3. Some people might believe that OPT extension will allow companies to hire international students for a lower wage which leads to a decrease of benefit and job opportunity for US citizens. However, this is completely untrue. US companies are NOT allowed to hire an international student instead of a US citizen for a lower wage. As a matter of fact, it is much harder for an international STEM student to find a job than an American STEM student. International students have cultural and communications barriers which put them at a much lower hand during interviews. Furthermore, most companies prefer American students over international students because they do not want to go through the extremely complicated and unpredictable process of H1b application. Last but most importantly, in order to sponsor an international student, the employer will have to open the job to American citizens first. Only if no suitable American candidate is found can this position be awarded to an international student.
4. Most highly-educated and intelligent international students in the STEM field rely on the OPT extension to work in the United States. Once they obtain the working visa, they will be able to contribute greatly to the tax income of US government, research and develop cutting-edge technologies and diversify the society. Countries that shut their doors to highly-skilled foreign workers ended up suffering from the stagnation of the economy. America relies on the introduction of foreign workers to continue to be the greatest.

I am a HUGE SUPPORTER of STEM extension.

American is the most powerful country because our nation takes the best of all that GOD has given to the world. Each year foreign students and scholars come to US for education and conference. Our great nation should always keep open to those talents, especially for those technical engineers workers (with a so-called STEM degrees).

Diversity keeps our society dynamic and creative. I come to New York from China when I was 12. It is still amazing and beneficial that I can experience the whole world culture just from my small high school in town.

I saw some comments which are over addressing the privilege of citizenship. No discrimination on immigrants! My mom and dad are new immigrants. Most of American have a immigrant ancestor, including those guys who left terrible comments. That’s who we are, an immigration country.

Let us keep talents in US!!!

I do support the OPT extension. Although it does bring more competition, the competition if fair. International students never get lowest wage to work, they enjoy the same salary level and benefit level. The salary they receive compensurate the skills they have. If there is no OPT extension, US big techs will def place them overseas, after all, it doesn't hurt too much since a lot of companies have overseas branch. No OPT extension means : 1. Losing a significant tax income source; 2. Losing domestic job opportunity for not only foreigner but also citizens; 3. U.S. universities will attract less international students; 4. No competition which impede the pace of innovation.
