It is unfair, wrong and against the spirit of American to deprive students’ right of OPT only because of their non-citizenship status. Also, the minimum wage rule has nothing to do with international students OPT at all! What’s more, international students play vital role in boosting US high tech, make huge contribute to US economy and welfare system!

First, the minimum wage rule has nothing to do with international student OPT. As is required by the US laws, international student need to meet a minimum salary standard which is much higher than minimum wage level required by law in order to get the H1b job visa. International students have to pay much higher tuition than the US students to get the same degree. For international students, it would require at least around $ 100,000 to complete the bachelor’s degree and around $70,000 to get a master’s degree. It’s ridiculous to infer that we well educated international students who spend such a huge amount of money in education in the US would ever do jobs that pay only minimum wages.

Second, depriving international students OPT extension right is against American’s core value of freedom. International students worked so hard to survive in the US. The STEM major students’ jobs, math, statistics for example, are those that most american students cannot do. What’s more, american company only hire international students when US citizens are not qualified. It means that international students need to be so outstanding as to get hired! If rejected, those high tech or STEM related job openings are almost surely can not be filled by the US citizens because they are not qualified!

We all know the importance of free competition in the Economy system and how harsh governments are to those companies who break free competition rule. If jobs decision was not based on the ability and qualification of candidates but only their citizenship, we would not see those giant internet companies nowadays such as Facebook, Apple, Amazon and etc whose employees were once international students!

All in all, STEM international students paid their expensive tuition, worked so hard for the degree and are highly qualified for the job openings. It would be not only unfair but also WRONG and do great harm to the US economy to deprive their OPT extension rights simply because of their citizenship.

现场编托福作文。。。
我大概就按照原来模板的基础上展开了点。。。不过我加了一个自己的想法：上学的时候交那么贵的学费，不给打工赚回来，那他么不是冤大头啊！

其他就是这些反对的人无非就是害怕竞争的人，只有多元化平等参与竞争，才能选拔出最好的人才，才能促进行业进步。任何的种族或者citizen的保护主义都是扯淡！

感觉力量不够了。最好能发动老印一起来。

The extension of OPT is very important for non-immigrant students who have paid much effort to learn knowledge in order to make a better world. I strongly support this extension.

Besides, the extension will contribute much to keep the highly educated for serving US companies.

I absolutely SUPPORT the proposal for the new STEM OPT 24 month extension.

There are 3 general facts that could strongly support my argument:

1. The international students bring huge benefits for US, especially for those industrial fields which hire STEM academic students. The international students boost our economy and their presents bring more possible employment opportunities. I work in IT company, in this fields, so many excellent employees are from international students and they are the backbone of this industry. They work hard, work great and pay many taxes, you cannot imagine the picture that if we excluded them out of this industry by shrinking OPT period, I can say that 50% talented people in Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook and so many other major companies would be lost!!!! The STEM students support our STEM industries, without them, the entire industry will suffer from a huge blow!

2.Many people claim that international student brings down our basic salary standard and are responsible for SE and IT economy depression.This is total wrong!!! The STEM academic students have nothing to do with this issue at all. Almost all the STEM students are highly educated intellectual, their salary is much higher than basic standard, so they are not the reason why our basic salary is low. And the reason why our economy growth in computer and IT industry are weak is exactly because that we reject those STEM students to stay and turn to employ inexperienced people. (Needless to say that those inexperienced "cheap" people drag our basic salary down, not STEM students) We evict the most innovative and hard-working people we once trained in our top education institutes, they come back to their own countries and also take away our ideas and knowledge, that is why our economy is so bad and is losing competitive power!

3.Rejecting STEM extension is not the symbol and foundation of our nation, the free and dream land that accepts and evaluates people by ability, not the BIRTH PLACE. Yes I admit there might be some short period of relief. but in long term, this is total wrong! We are excluding the innovative creators and job creators that we train well in our universities. (Go to any famous university and check the engineering department, especially CS and EE department, I can say almost 80% graduates and PHD are international students! And check all the famous professors in STEM fields, most of them are from other countries!) Huawei in China now is the largest IT and communication solutions provider in this world, not Cisco or other US company, why? Because we rudely reject so many Chinese STEM students back to China based on horrible conservative bias and stupid narrow thought. If US wants to lead in this world in a long term, this country needs open and variety! If OPT STEM is unacceptably short or even nonexistent, we are destroying our current academic leading and industry leading in STEM fields!
