        The department is only accepting new graduate students applications if supported by a departmental member. Note that your chances of acceptance will be significantly improved if you specify areas of interest and a description of your skills/expertise in the application. You are also strongly encouraged to contact faculty in your areas of interest directly and in advance.

        A limited number of guaranteed funding packages (GFPs) are available each year, which will typically provide approximately $16,000 per year for 2 years for MSc students and $20,000 per year for 4 years for PhD students. These will be awarded based on academic performance and research potential. Continued funding is contingent on satisfactory performance. In order to be eligible, complete applications must be received by the Faculty of Graduate Studies no later than January 1 for students starting on September 1 or the following January 1. Students who receive a GFP will be notified by March 15. A few additional GFPs may be available for late applicants whose complete applications are received by the Faculty of Graduate Studies no later than May 1. Funding for students who apply at other times, or who do not receive a GFP, is often available but cannot be guaranteed

        After consultation with the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) the GSC feels it is important to bring to students' attention the fact that the penalties imposed by the FGS for such infractions as academic dishonesty do not represent an upper bound on the severity of the penalty. In particular, side-effects caused by FGS penalties will still apply. Thus, for example, receiving an FGS-imposed grade of 'F' for academic dishonesty will be treated in exactly the same way as an "earned" grade of 'F' and will normally cause the GSC to recommend required withdrawal from the program. (This is because Computer Science typically does not recommend remedial action for deficient grades of 'D' or 'F').

ALSP scholarships are allocated on a first come, first served basis to the best students. You are therefore advised to apply as soon as possible and not to wait until the final deadline, as it is possible that all the scholarships may have already been allocated.

Non-EEA students applying after February 1, 2012 are not eligible for scholarship selection and must include a bank statement in their application documents.

In addition to Faculty of Graduate Studies admission requirements, the Department requires an undergraduate background of either:

• a four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science from a recognized institution with a minimum GPA of 3.3 in the last two years (i.e. last 20 half course equivalents) of the undergraduate program; or
• a four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum GPA of 3.3 in the last 2 years (i.e. last 20 half course equivalents) of the undergraduate program. In addition, candidates must have an undergraduate course at the third or fourth year level in each of the following computer science areas:

Q: I'm interested in your research area and would like to become one of your graduate students. What should I do?

A: You should browse the web page descriptions of some of our group's current projects, and apply to the graduate program in Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University, specifying your interest in working with me in Human-Computer Interaction or Computer Vision as part of the Intelligent Systems research group.

If you're a scholarship student (or expect to receive an NSERC or equivalent) and live within reasaonble proximity to Montreal, please contact me directly to arrange a time to visit our lab.

Q: What qualifications do I need to become a graduate student in your group?

A: First, you should have excellent grades; the department's minimum threshold is a CGPA of 3.0 out of 4 or a GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0 for the last two full-time academic years, but in general, we accept only students with much stronger records. There are GRE and TOEFL requirements for non-Canadian applicants. See the department web page for details. You should also posess a solid background (e.g. an undergraduate degree) in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer Science, have strong programming skills in C and/or Java, and have excellent communication skills.

For students wishing to enter the Ph.D. program, you should have relevant experience in a core subject area pertinent to the research project of interest and ideally, a number of publications.

Q: What sort of funding is available to support my studies?

A: We provide funding to a limited number of graduate students every year through research grants and contracts. However, other than cases where a prospective student already has a scholarship (see below), we are unlikely to provide support for M.Eng. students. Qualified Canadian applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for NSERC or FQRNT scholarships. Additional scholarships are also available, based on academic merit. See the following funding documents and the McGill Fellowships and Awards web page. All incoming Ph.D. students are also eligible for the McGill Engineering Doctoral Award (MEDA), which is determined largely by excellence of your academic and research record.

Ph.D. students are likely to receive differential fee waivers, which reduce international tuition to the equivalent of Canadian fees. UBC：Applicants to all programs must have a faculty member who is willing to supervise their graduate program before they will be admitted to graduate studies in the department.

刚才和一个也正在申请的同学聊，她要找淘宝上的店进行文书修改，改是必要的，一些语言的地道要靠专业的人点拨。
大牛都说了，PS一定要自己写，也许比较费时，但是只有自己才能发觉自己的优点。
我现在还是正打算分析分析各个学校老师的研究方向呢，可是感觉整半天都没出一篇完整的PS，实在有点过不去。。
所以，现在我应该要构思自己的PS思路啦，我应该在这篇文章中体现什么呢？？
首先，思路上，我要走学术研究型的内容构架，因为我是偏属于转专业申请，就要靠PS来体现我的本科是和CS多么的相关。
然后，不提弱点（G Quantitative，T Speaking，GPA），而是提出自己的浓厚研究兴趣以及实例。没有什么东西是辩解的，我认为，你想辩解的不一定是老师看中的，所以么，过多的辩解只会造成文字的浪费，而就想太傻十日谈里面说的，如果你不是一个领域里的第一，那么创造一个你能独占鳌头的领域，因此，突出优势很重要。
睡了，明天早起。。。。。

写了一下PS，遇到一个问题，好像曾经在帖子里面看到过，就是PS中应该体现多些high level的东西还是体现自己的具体科研项目呢？？

其实都要体现，因为一般都写个1000多字，现在感觉可以同时满足两方面要求。
