The Intelligent Autonomous Systems Lab (http://ualr.edu/cxye) of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock has several Ph.D. student openings with full RA-ships for Fall 2017. The successful candidates will develop Simultaneous Localization and Mapping methods, object recognition methods, and human lower-limb motion detection and walking patter recognition methods based on an RGB-D camera. Due to interdisciplinary nature of these projects, we are looking for candidate with background in robotics, computer vision and mechatronics. Candidate with background in mechanical engineering will contribute to prototyping a hand-worn robotic object manipulation aid for he visually impaired.
Students will be admitted to the Engineering Science and Systems PhD program or the Integrated Computing PhD program according to their backgrounds. The lab currently hosts research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, NASA, and Arkansas Research Alliance.
