比较stat MS @ Stanford和biostat MS @ Columbia

求助版上各位～主要想知道这两个master哪一个比较不水，毕业之后找工作或者继续申请的前景哪一个比较好。

Columbia的生统是2年，10门必修+1～2门选修+半年的实习 +1分seminar course (including several sessions of biostatistics consulting services)。问过那边一个prof，她说读得好的话，一年以后you have good chance 继续申 biostat phd。

Stanford是1年～1年半。和Stat PhD分开，可以被其他PhDminor。4门必修+4门选修。邮件说今年有210个申请，计划收15个左右（估计发了40多个ad吧我猜想……）


1. Four Statistics core courses:
116 Probability
217 Stochastic Processes
191 Applied Statistics
200 Theoretical Statistics
（这四门课应该是比较简单的，但是都可以替换成advanced level的，也就是和他们phd第一年上的课基本一样）


2. Four additional Statistics courses:
200 or 300 level only


3. Linear Algebra Mathematics requirement: Either Math 104 (Applied Matrix Theory) or Math 113 (Linear Algebra and Matrix Theory).
Students who have had linear algebra may take a more advanced mathematics course, e.g. Math 115 (Functions of a Real Variable) or Math 171 (Fundamental Concepts of Analysis), or other math course with program adviser's approval.


4. Programming requirement:
CS 106A (Programming Methodology),
CS 106X (Programming Methodology and Abstractions),
CS 137 (Intro to Scientific Computing) or CS 138 (if offered).
Students who have these skills may elect a more advanced CS course.




我所知道的信息就这么多。。。求助版上对这两个program或者对统计master program有了解的多给点意见。。。

我有点犹豫主要是觉得好像感觉上stanford的master安排的有点儿水。。。不知道真实情况是不是这样。。。

1# joansmq 我觉得还是一句话么，看你将来想干什么？ 想做生统，想做research ，想好走学术路线，想念phd， 去columbia。 想工作，想去industry， 没想好具体什么方向（金融，制药 保险 and etc） stanford。 地理位置么，我觉得这两个都很好。 stanford 不用说， Columbia 那边 NJ 的药厂 什么都很多 找工作也很容易。
ps 本人有斯坦福情结，加州情结，所以个人选stanford。

c　的生统能进top 5么？
不太可比啊。。。。。

从生活角度看更不可比了。
而且这样的名校location已经不是那么重要了，不象无名小学校

哪怕拿了stanford stat phd offer, vs. harvard biostat phd offer，
个人依然建议去stanford.......

但是他是一年program。。等于去了就要找工作或者马上申请。。总觉得有点悬额。。。
