CS Ph.D. positions @Umass Boston Fall 2018

One Ph.D. student position in Computer Science, starting in 2018 fall semester, is available at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston), under the supervision of Prof. Honggang Zhang (http://eng.umb.edu/~hzhang).

The accepted student will receive full financial support in the form of Research Assistantship or Teaching Assistantship (including full tuition wavier, monthly stipends, and some other fees) from Prof. Zhang, and he/she will enroll in the Ph.D. program of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science at UMass Boston.

Prof. Zhang’s current research is the areas of edge computing, Internet of Things (IoT) supported by machine learning and AI, and distributed system design in general. His Ph.D. students are expected to work in the above areas.

Qualifications:
* Applicants usually have a BS or MS degree in any one of the following fields: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Science and Engineering, Software Engineering, Control & Automation, Telecommunication, Computer Networking, or other related fields.
* Students from other science and engineering fields (such as Applied Math, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, etc.) are also encouraged to apply, due to the interdisciplinary nature of Prof. Zhang’s research.

It is expected that applicants have strong motivation, determination, and interest towards research.
