*****************************************************************************
Dr. Wei Gao at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) is seeking outstanding candidates to fill multiple PhD student positions starting from the Fall 2019 semester. Recruited PhD students will receive full financial support during their entire PhD studies.
Dr. Wei Gao is doing pioneering research in the design, analysis, and implementation of embedded and mobile computing systems, ranging from the existing smartphones, wearable devices and embedded sensors to the emerging 5G, VR/AR and Internet of Things systems. His research work spans both the hardware and software aspects of these systems, and also utilizes multiple tools of deep learning to allow the embedded and mobile devices to precisely learn human inputs and react accordingly. His work, therefore, involves many collaborations with industry partners on commercial products and creates various opportunities for students' internships and full-time jobs after graduation. All the previous PhD students graduated from Dr. Gao's group received job positions in top companies such as Facebook and Google. More details about Dr. Gao's research can be found at: http://www.pitt.edu/~weigao
Applicants of all relevant majors including Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Communication Engineering, etc, are encouraged to apply. Applicants with hands-on skills on building practical hardware and software systems will be given prioritized consideration. Applicants with strong background in signal processing, communication theory, optimization theory and algorithm design will also be considered. Interested applicants are invited to send their CVs, transcripts and list of publications (if any) to Dr. Wei Gao (weigao@pitt.edu). The ECE Department at Pitt will start reviewing applicants in the beginning of January.
