刚拿到H1B去SSA申请SSN，被告知不用申请，两周内就能收到

刚拿到H1B的visa stamp，周五上午到的美国，下午就去最近的SSA申请SSN了。但是被告知我应该两周内就能收到，不需要现在再申请，免得重复获得不一样的SSN number。说如果两周内没收到再过来申请。我满脸问号，在网上看见的都是一去就得赶紧申请，这是什么情况，为什么不用申请就能拿到？而且一开始我把准备好的护照（有签证），I-94，I797给她的时候，她说I-797只是个receipt，他们不认。我就更奇怪了，怎么全和我看到的贴说的不一样。

所以想问问大家拿到H1B后怎么申请的SSN？

取决于你当时填I-765是怎么填的，如果填的当下没有SSN，会帮你和SSA申请

13.a. Has the Social Security Administration (SSA) ever officially issued a Social Security card to you?
NOTE: If you answered “No” to Item Number 13.a., skip to Item Number 14. If you answered “Yes” to Item Number 13.a., provide the information requested in Item Number 13.b.

13.b. Provide your Social Security number (SSN) (if known).

14. Do you want the SSA to issue you a Social Security card? (You must also answer “Yes” to Item Number 15., Consent for Disclosure, to receive a card.)
NOTE: If you answered “No” to Item Number 14., skip to Part 2., Item Number 18.a. If you answered “Yes” to Item Number 14., you must also answer “Yes” to Item Number 15.

15. Consent for Disclosure: I authorize disclosure of information from this application to the SSA as required for the purpose of assigning me an SSN and issuing me a Social Security card.
NOTE: If you answered “Yes” to Item Numbers 14. - 15., provide the information requested in Item Numbers 16.a. - 17.b.
