ECE RA Position Avaliable

申的是UA ECE的MS，已拿到AD，后来来了更好的学校，遂早早的decline掉了。

然后就在昨天凌晨，收到教授Mark A. Neifeld的来信，说他要招人，并介绍了他的研究邻域，原文如下：

Congratulations on your admission to UA. Just in case you haven’t yet made a final decision about where to pursue your graduate education, I wanted to make you aware of some research projects that may be suited to your interests and expertise. I expect to be hiring some new graduate students into these projects in the Fall.

The general domain of these projects is “computational sensing” and you may have heard something about “compressive sensing” a special case of the former. My research group has been advancing the boundaries of this domain for many years. Currently we are pursuing projects in x-ray imaging, stereoscopy, digital holography, ultrasound, and optical communications. As you might see from our various publications the approach that we take is quite rigorous – we apply principals of information theory to optimize overall sensor system performance (i.e., jointly optimizing the physical and computational elements). This approach leverages student interest/expertise in linear algebra, probability, optimization theory, optical physics and/or subsets thereof. Some of these projects might be considered “image processing on steroids” and so would seem to match well with some of your goals.

我的研究方向是信号与图像处理，想不通为什么一个搞optical computing and processing的教授会对我感兴趣，而且我对optical device/system毫无经验，于是婉拒。

申UA ECE optical方向的同学可以尝试套磁这个教授，目测回复率很高。

顺便吐糟下：

尼玛劳资申MS的学校竟然有教授来反套！！而且方向还不是那么match！！！

吊特么给申PhD的学校教授发信鸟都不鸟！！！是人都能看出来方向很match啊有木有！！！次奥！！！唯一一个鸟的还说自己没钱！！！来信砍！！！

特么还有学校给了PhD的录取就完事了！！！过后很长时间都不提钱的事情！！！什么吊意思！！！特么劳资是来读PhD的！！！给不起钱就不要发AD啊！！！

尼玛看着申PhD的学校一个个给AD、rej或者降MS的！！！劳资很不爽啊！！！特么就是不来Offer啊次奥！！！

息怒～学校通常都木有时间考虑学生的感受～～～ 可能是新教授实验室缺人吧～～   多半实验室不缺人的话，你发邮件他们也是没办法理的～

UA ECE跟光学院很多教授是重叠的，光学很强，funding 多呗
