So this one is for machine learning engineer at ebay stubhub. I was first approached by a recruiter. As I am coming from data scientist background, so initially I didn't expect this but I was like why not, just go get some experience.

First call was with recruiter, asking about background and interests. Basicaly just went through the resume and explained projects in details.

About a week and a half later, they asked me to schedule for a technical phone screen. Instruction before hand was lacking. I was not informed that this would involve live coding until the actual interview but good that i have kinda prepared for it.
The interviewer was also surprised that recruiter didn't explaine to me what to expect, but anyways.

Coding question: (pretty easy and straight forward)Write a function to do character counting, for example:
Input string: "apple"
Expected output: "a1p2l1e1"

After that there are several technical questions about sparks and HDFS, like
