明尼阿波利斯市议会成员宣布支持解散该市警察部门

在弗洛伊德之死和全国范围内抗议警察暴行的示威游行发生后，一些人要求减少警察部门的经费或直接废除警察部门，而此呼声也越来越高。
周日下午，明尼阿波利斯市议会13名议员中有9名在Powderhorn公园的集会上宣布支持取消该市的警察部门。明尼阿波利斯市议会主席Lisa Bender表示，承诺拆除该市警务，会重新为大家搭建一个更安全的社区。

但该市市长表示反对取消警察部门。很多民众也担心遇到危险得不到帮助。

评论：真要取消警察部门，很可能需要公投（Public Voting），而不是议会直接下令。
