Arvind Krishna, IBM's chief executive, on Monday called on Congress to enact reforms to promote racial justice and combat systemic racism, as he announced that the company would exit the facial recognition business. 'IBM strongly opposes and will not tolerate the use of any facial recognition technology for mass surveillance, racial profiling, violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms, or anything inconsistent with our values and principles of trust and transparency,' Mr. Krishna wrote in a letter to members of Congress late Monday. We think it's time to start a national conversation about whether and how domestic law enforcement agencies should use facial recognition technology.  source
