GRA/Postdoctoral Position in Age of Information and Data Freshness
Dr. Bo Ji\'s group in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech has one opening for a GRA/Postdoc in Age of Information (AoI) and Data Freshness. Candidates will work on fundamental research related to AoI and Next-Generation networks, while drawing on tools from other fields such as optimization and/or machine learning. The position is based in the Blacksburg Campus of Virginia Tech and is funded by an NSF project https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=2106427).
Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:- Holding or expected to obtain a BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related disciplines.
- Strong theoretical background in mathematics and analytical thinking, demonstrated by a track record of fundamental research.
- Ability to pursue independent research and demonstrate an aptitude for fundamental research.
- Research experience in wireless communications and networking and interest in applying new tools (AI/ML, control, etc.) within the context of such systems.
- Knowledge of optimization theory, bandit learning, or reinforcement learning is a major plus.
- Excellent written and communication skills in English.
Terms of appointment:
- The candidate is expected to start in Fall 2022 or Spring 2023.
- The position is available to candidates who are interested in either PhD or postdoctoral positions.
- The candidate can work in either the CS or ECE department at Virginia Tech.
