写在前面：题目大概是问毕业学生是去参加univeristy-level课程好还是去参观博物馆和名胜古迹更好一些？
我的观点是学习课程更好，因为可以提高学习能力，适应大学课程；对大学课程提前了解，选专业更好；不是所有专业都适合参观来学习，因此还是选择上课比较好。

题目：
A high school that normally gives students about two months of time off from school during the summer is introducing a new educational requirement for students in eleventh grade(ages16-17). Over the summer students have the following two options to fulfil the new requirement:
- They can attend classes each day for several weeks to complete a university-level course on a subject that they are considering selecting as their major field of study at university
- They can spend several weeks traveling to museums and historic places in their area with a group of students guided by a teacher and then write a paper about their experience.
Which ONE of these options do you think would be most beneficial for students and why?

回答：It is difficult to gainsay that museums and historic places are the best venue place that broadens one’s horizons, and such a fact people leads impressionable people to generate the idea that school should make it a new educational requirement that everyone in eleventh grade should visit some museums and historic places during the summer and submit a paper about their experience. This statement lacks both factual and theoretical support and should be reviewed thoroughly. Concerning learning capability, major field and personal preference, I strongly hold that students can attend a university-level course that they select as their potential major in the future.

First and foremost, learning a university-level course will further improve students’ study capabilities and make them adapt to university life easier, as courses in the university are typically far more complex than the subject in middle school. They usually require students to complete many sorts of tasks including paperwork, research papers, program codings, quiz and final exams. Adding all these up will become a heavy workload, especially for the freshman at university because they haven’t been told how to manage all the tough problems before. Therefore, teaching students in eleventh grade with a university-level course will best improve their learning ability to prepare for the upcoming lessons and fast pace at university.

Furthermore, learning university courses in advance indicates that students have more preparation when choosing a major at university. Take the case of Marcus, a student skilled at math in middle school, who took a university-level course about mathematics during the graduation summer. He found that he can’t handle the tough and complex knowledge of math because there is a huge difference about it between the university-level and what he has learned in middle school. As a result, he selected information science, focusing more on real-world problems, as his major rather than math that he previously would like to learn. It’s not hard to predict that he will suffer a lot if he didn’t learn the university-level course and insist on the math subject.

Despite the above analysis, a voice emerges that sight-seeing in museums and historic places can make students gain more knowledge about the subject. Paradoxically, not every student who majored in different subjects benefits from such experience. Some university subject demands critical thinking, calculation ability and hardware design. For example, it makes no sense for students studying electrical engineering to visit museums and see the first invented digital circuit. They need to obtain state-of-art work details about the subject rather than learning the history. Hence, students should all attend university-level courses to gain knowledge of the subject no matter what they will study because courses will always provide practical and precise knowledge about the subject.
