Ph.D. positions are available at the Structural Health Monitoring and Dynamics Laboratory within the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN, USA). These positions span different areas including:
1. Topological elastic metamaterials.
2. Fractional order mechanics.
3. Machine learning for material design.
The ideal candidate should have either an undergraduate (B.S.) or a graduate (M.S.) degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field of engineering and science. Candidates should have a deep interest (and possibly some background) in theoretical and computational mechanics, quantum and condensed matter physics, and machine learning (depending on the topic of interest above). The tentative starting date is
either Summer or Fall 2023. Earlier starting dates could be discussed.
