留学黑暗面，自某位澳洲留学的师兄

今天突然收到某位澳洲师兄的qq，发了一张图片，是一个外国男孩儿跳水失误，整个脸被切开的gif，当时感觉，额，好creepy!然后师兄就跟我说了很多留学的黑暗面，尽管是下午说的，但现在依然觉得心里很不舒服。
总结来说：
1、外国诱惑很多：红灯区，毒品 etc.
2、疯狂的地方很多：酒吧、夜深人静的大街，元旦，街头某个角落...
3、离基佬远一点，小心不要被人尾随，亚洲人很受外国基佬喜爱，有个学生在澳洲被人XX了，政府出面赔偿，直接给了他绿卡。
4、离黑人远一点，他们吸毒，还有枪。
5、美国很疯狂，你不要被带坏了，以那个脸被切开的家伙为戒。
然后
1、失落了，可以去教堂
2、要锁好门窗


我说，师兄，你咋这么阴暗呢。。。
他说，我出去之前也是一个阳光小伙

从事极限运动，自然要先了解可能的风险……用美国喜欢极限运动的人多来论证“黑暗面”，没有啥说服力吧？

hiking、skiing、skating、surfing、sky diving，etc，各种运动都有风险。你可以选择玩也可以选择不玩，又没人逼你玩，玩之前好好评估风险就是了。把diversity说成是黑暗面，这个我不知道该如何说……

要说peer pressure，美国比国内要少。你玩奇奇怪怪的东西，不会有人拿你的爱好judge你。从这一点来说，国内相对单一的价值观和运动方式，才是“黑暗面”吧

yes there are absolutely places you should NOT go to at night ( just like those in China)
SF is not that bad, Oakland, on the other hand, can be really bad.
NYC - not familiar, definitely there are good and bad areas, think of Law & Order....
Boston is not bad, Dorchester is a ghetto though
LA - you are not safe around downtown, USC etc. But near UCLA, Santa Monica, Westwood etc are superb neighborhoods

that's pretty much the bigger cities in the US I guess?
many, many smaller cities have both a city feel and are pretty safe.

If you look for 100 close friends to hang out with --- that's gonna be pretty tough, except in SF/NYC/Boston/etc

In most places, bars close at 2am.

But I don't think the "Americanized" life is all about bars and sports, there are also many other types of things to explore
try living social
try groupon
try meetup
try outdoor sports like hiking, camping, jogging, kayaking, skiiing - yes you probably can do ALL of these in China, here it's just that much more available and less crowded
If you are up for it, you can try shooting ranges, paragliding, parasailing, wind surfing, kite surfing, bungie jumping, drive chopper/planes, skydive, fake skydive etc....ok admitted museums are not as great as those in Europe, but still way better than ANY I can find in China. Way better documentation and more authentic stuff, not crowded, not noisy, and there are actually many things to learn.
Try different foods. Chinese food is NOT the only type of food in the world. Nor is it necessarily the best.
Try different music. Go to concerts.
Watch some sports match live. Or watch it at a sports bar.
Play team sports. Play actual games face to face with people.
Try geeky games - there are amazing varieties of them! Hard to find in China.
Travel, go deeper than just tweeting a selfie with your besties. Read those stuff posted at landmarks/popular sites. Most if not all have interesting stories associated with them.
Learn to cook, learn to bake, learn mixology, learn to brew your own beer.
Make something with arduino or raspberry pi. Go print your own 3d logo at a makerbot shop.
Build an app. Build a website.
Build an actual tool.
Build your own furniture. Build your own shack. Build your own house.
Plant a garden. Plant vegetables.
Drive an ATV. Drive a mower. Drive a snow plower. Push a snow thrower.
Paint your room. Stain your deck.
Decorate your room, even if you just rent it for a year.
Read. Join a bookclub.
Watch Art history and then go to museums.
Flip through art books.
Flip through numerous books at the bookstore. Chat with your local librarian.
Walk dogs. Volunteer at the animal shelter.
Volunteer at the soup kitchen.
Do yoga.
Meditate.
Skype/facetime with family and friends.

I mean, there are really lots and lots of stuff to do that are in general, quite safe......

how safe you feel with a place largely depends on
1. how familiar you are with the place (even if statistics tell you some city has high crime rate, just by living there all your life and surviving/getting used to stuff around you) you will feel it's "not that bad"
2. how safe or unsafe you believe it to be.
even in the most secure college town there will be the occasional robbery and sexual assault
you read about that one instance, and you feel you are living in hell

and by under reporting, under categorizing and under publicizing "events", the common chinese univ can make you feel safe. Ever heard of the female student who got admission into the graduate program without an exam?

none of this is particularly relevant to being in the US

PS：知道我马上要去米国，还这么吓我，感觉这师兄的话是良药苦口。。。就是有点太苦了。。。

想问几个问题
1、夜店还能去不？
2、晚上还能出门玩吗？能晚上逛街吗？
3、如何鉴别基佬，不靠近都看不出来？
4、跳水怎么割开的，是不是被水给切开了？
5.  还能去party之类的玩吗？
6.  大麻能碰吗？我听好像都是没有成瘾性的
7.  还能和美帝白人好好玩吗？
然后
1、那信佛的怎么办？
2、晚上睡觉都要关好窗户？一直有开窗的习惯，不然室内太闷。

在国内也都发生过。。。
枪倒是少。但是被XX了政府也不会鸟你，最多保研。（btw.这条被xx了给绿卡，感觉像谣言，不像是真事儿）

说什么基佬很多、小心被尾随被xx这句话完全就是赤裸裸的性取向歧视，这人要是敢公开这么说，工作直接就没了。

而且没看懂，为啥“美国很疯狂，你不要被带坏了，以那个脸被切开的家伙为戒”，跳水出事故了为啥叫“疯狂”“带坏”？这是什么神经病逻辑。。。

不能，绝对不能。

我们这里南部农村都是sissy妹妹基佬,一眼就看出来的，黑人白人基佬都很娘。他们会举办维权活动的，基本参加的都是。

绝对不能，绝对不能。

继续信呗。
2、晚上睡觉都要关好窗户？一直有开窗的习惯，不然室内太闷。
。。美国很多宿舍都是空调，根本不允许开窗户。晚上睡觉还是要看窗户。

另外神马叫留学黑暗面，美国治安不好应该来之前就知道吧。。

of course you will be the only chinese person in US, and of course none of the millions before you have ever survived,
not only that, they all died, or got severely injured simply due to the fact of being on american soil, and no fault of their own, right?
