EAD 6.15到期nonPP H1b需要申请extension吗？

EAD卡6.15到期，目前在第一年opt期间，2015.6.15-2016.6.15. H1b是nonPP的，这种情况还需要申请opt extension吗？
貌似如果一切顺利的话，是不需要申请的。但是如果cap gap开始了, H1b再出问题的话，就不能申请了。各位小伙伴这种情况都会申请extension吗？

The timeline I said is just the time you take to deliver your case to USCIS, not the time USCIS spends processing your case to make final decision, even not the time USCIS takes to give you receipt number, understand? You need time to process your new I-20 and deliver docs between your school and USCIS.

Based on my own case, I shipped my docs to school to request new I-20 at April 20 and received text message from USCIS saying that my application was delivered JUST NOW. You can count how many days I took to just deliver my docs.

2. I don't know whether you are selected in H1B this year. If you're selected, then you will have a cap gap automatically extending to Oct 1st, but it's for H1B not for OPT extension. You need to deliver your OPT extension application to USCIS before your current OPT expiring date presented on your EAD card. After that time, you will not have a chance to apply for OPT extension no matter what status you are on.

I think you are not clear about the OPT extension and recommend you should have a talk with F-1 counselor in the international student office in your school. It took me 3 weeks to deliver docs to USCIS even I used Fedex overnight delivery and didn't miss anything required. So one month at least prior to June 15 is necessary if you want to apply for OPT extension. Remember again you will not be eligible to OPT extension after June 15.

Receive application. As your links, you should receive the text message from USCIS before June 15.

You are in the school when you first applied for OPT, so you just need to consider the i-20 processing time around 1 week and delivery time to send docs to USCIS.

But now I think you should not be in the school, so as I explained above, you need to mail the docs to school to request i-20 and it's time A. After that, processing time for issuing new i-20 and it's time B. Then, school will mail back i-20 to you to sign it and it's time C.  School will mail your docs to USCIS after you scan the signed copy of i-20 and email back to school, and it's time D. So A+B+C+D approximately equals to 3 weeks.

Also, I mentioned the process varies among different schools and recommend you should consult with your F-1 counselor in your school. They know much more and accurate information about your own condition than anyone in 1p3.

(Actually school mailed my docs out last Thursday and I received text message from USCIS yesterday. I remained contact with F-1 counselor during the whole process so I know well about the timeline.)

ps. It's all up to you. If you think 1-2 weeks is enough, then go ahead.

not recommend so late application for extension
actually your docs need to be DELIVERED to USCIS before your current OPT expiring date
AND you need to wait for:
1) delivery time to send your docs to school to request a new I-20
2) around 1 week for school office to issue your new I-20
3) delivery time for school to send new I-20 back to you and you sign it
4) delivery time for school to send your docs to USCIS after you email the scanned copy of your signed I-20 back to school office
process may vary among different schools but it usually takes at least 3 weeks to complete above all even you use Fedex first overnight for all the delivery
please take into consideration any conditions that you miss required docs or school office takes long time to process your case

赶紧现在貌似还能申17个月。先搞个17个月的保险起见撒，380刀不多

这和过几天申请24个月的有什么区别？是不是目前的17个月的资料要求稍微低一些？

5月10号开始24个月的ext,你现在投过去估计会是10号后,当然除非是隔夜邮递,10号前处理就是按照现在的17个月来,10号后处理的话会给你发信让你REF 24个月的材料,然后再由17升24个月两步走

那你的意思是，现在17个月的extension算是anyway都来不及了对吧？今天刚刚注意到这个问题，什么材料也没准备

"来得及" 你是指单纯申请stem还是申请17个月的stem,后者的话估计是来不及,到时候会按照24个月走,按照现有官方的文件来说,会给你发信让你ref. 具体实施,目前谁都不知道. 个人认为还是赶早吧.好歹等待阶段还能工作,晚了的话就彻底没辙了

情况相同，EAD 6月末到期。据说有的h1b十月一号之前都approve不了，所以需要申请extension？一脸茫然，等待指点。

h1b估计最迟下个月就都approve了，除非一直ref....只是10月1号之后才生效

你是不造24个月的ext资料要求有多少....17个月的就只要个e-verify....
