The Lynd research group at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College has an opening for a PhD student in Fall 2019. Dr. Lee Lynd (full professor) is working to engineer anaerobic cellulolytic bacteria to produce biofuels from cellulose. Prospective students should have research experience in metabolic engineering, familiarity with techniques of molecular biology and microbiology, and an interest in industrial biotechnology. For more information, visit https://engineering.dartmouth.edu/lyndlab/. If interested, please contact daniel.g.olson@dartmouth.edu.
Professor Lynd has been a member of the Dartmouth Faculty since 1987 and is an expert on utilization of plant biomass for production of energy. Professor Lynd’s H-Index of 67 (Google Scholar) is among the highest of researchers with primary activity in the bioenergy field. His contributions span the science, technology, and policy domains, and include leading research on fundamental and biotechnological aspects of microbial cellulose utilization. Professor Lynd has three times testified before the United States Senate and has been featured in prominent fora such as Wired, Forbes, Nova, and the Nobel Conference.
