Postdoc/PhD Positions in Metal AM and Materials Synthesis at Clemson University

I am looking for motivated postdoctoral and Ph.D. researchers to join my group in the Department of Automotive Engineering at Clemson University, Greenville, South Carolina, USA. The research focus will be metal additive manufacturing and advanced materials synthesis. The positions are fully funded.


Qualified candidates should have experimental experience in metal additive manufacturing or a background in Materials Science or Computer Science. Competitive candidates are expected to have some of the following experience and knowledge: 1) Programming skills in C/C++, Python, Matlab, or other languages, as well as MPI parallel computing; 2) Microstructure predictive capabilities in phase-field, cellular automata, or Monte Carlo modeling; 3) Solid mechanics simulation experience in CPFEM; 4) AI and machine learning related to processes optimization or materials design; 5) Thermodynamics and kinetics of materials, CALPHAD calculation; 6) Better to have experience in advanced characterization (e.g., TEM, EBSD, SEM, XRD); 7) Good at English communication and writing.

课题组简介: Dr. Shunyu Liu 从2021年1月起在Clemson University任助理教授, 2020年12月在美国Purdue University (at West Lafayette) 获得Mechanical Engineering博士学位, 师从Professor Yung. C. Shin (Donald A. and Nancy G. 科研设施简介：组内现有两台高性能、全封闭、商业金属3D打印机。每台售价均在80万美金左右。一台是送粉的OPTOMEC LENS MR-7 系统，配有1000W激光器，两个送粉器和全氩气保护气氛；另一台是铺粉的3D SYSTEMS DMP 350 系统，配有500W激光器，80微米的激光光斑和低真空的打印环境。另外，组内有金相制备，化学侵蚀，力学性能测试，热处理和显微结构观察一应设备。Clemson University 另有先进材料表征实验室，拥有TEM, SEM, EBSD, XRD等相应设备。
