NJIT计算机全奖（有工业界软件开发背景优先）（2018春／秋季）

There is one PhD student (RA/TA) opening in the High-performance Computing Lab in New Jersey Institute of Technology. We are looking to hire a student with background in HPC and Big Data (systems, data analytics).

1. Candidates with strong background in the areas above, or closely related areas, such as systems, software (system software, middleware) will be seriously considered. Candidates with applied math background (but has strong software development experience using C/C++) will also be considered.

2. Candidates must already have GRE and TOEFL (>79) scores.

3. Candidates must have strong programming skills in C/C++, Python. Industry experiences are not required, but are preferable.

Several advantages of working in the HPC group at NJIT.

1. Working with the best researchers in HPC. We regularly publish on the best HPC conferences (SC, HPDC, SIGMETRICS). Students and postdocs have the opportunities to work with collaborators at Oak Ridge National Lab. We will be able to have the access to the best computing facilities (e.g., Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility) in USA and applications. Possibilities of being hiring by Oak Ridge National Lab after the end of the appointment.

2. PhD students are expected to graduate in 3.5 years.

3. The school is in a VERY good location - 30 mins to Manhattan but you still can choose to live in a small city environment. Google, AT&T, Bloomberg, IBM, and many investment banks are nearby. It's very easy to land a summer internship or a fulltime job in the NJ/NY area.

4. Former students/postdocs are employed by Amazon, Twitter, IBM TJ Watson, Marvell after they graduate.

4. NJIT is ranked about 80-90 in computer science and computer engineering, and the department has 9 IEEE fellows.

PS: Professor Qing有深厚的HPC和data analytics 背景，之前供职于Oak Ridge National Laboratory。他很耐心，人也很好，我刚来跟他做research的时候很多不懂的理解不了的他都会细心教导，同时把他自己的经验教训都讲给我听。同时和prof. Qing一起做research还有机会去ORNL国家实验室实习，是难得的接触很多顶尖科学家和先进设备的机会。如果你有一定的编程基础并对big data及HPC方面感兴趣，欢迎加入我们！

支持一下：以前在ORNL时，刘老师指导过我，很nice，帮了我很多，项目论文也发表在Top tier conference (SIGMetrics)。作为一个曾经读过PhD的人，个人觉得，导师人nice不nice最重要，碰上“三不管”或是“疯狂push不管死活”的导师真的很要命。据我所知，刘老师funding 足，有ORNL的connection，很负责任，能力也强，推荐去读他的PhD。P.S. 因为曾经刘老师帮了我很大忙，我现在在微软工作，如果暑假有机会，我可以帮忙内推微软实习，联系方式找刘老师要就可以。：）

First of all, Dr. Liu is a very kind and efficient professor. He has a lot of academical resources in the area of HPC and Big Data.

I think a fresh Ph.D. student under his advise can make remarkable achievement on both academic and industry.

BTW, his research area is always targeting the cutting-edge technology in HPC and BigData. After graduation, a good job in BIG company is not a issue.
