opt 无薪实习期间可以继续领失业金么？

我人在纽约 opt身份。三月底因为疫情原因被laid off，申请了纽约的失业金，因为种种原因被推迟一直没有拿到钱 但最近重新打了电话终于要拿到钱了 接线员说最后一个步骤是要和Homeland security确认我的EAD卡和work authorization。

我虽然三月底被laid off 但是五月初开始做一份无薪实习 所以从opt的工作要求方面看应该是满足的。但不确定是否在申请了三个月的失业金的情况下 会被homeland security联。。。拿不到钱没关系。。。但如果被驱逐出境就是噩梦了啊。。

因为我的实习是unpaid 所以不知道边做unpaid实习边claim 失业金。。有人有经历过这种情况吗

不用无薪实习，无业期间也不能领。

我的理解是如果你一开始就没有工作是不能。。但如果是被laid off失业 我的理解是可以？

Students presents another layer of complexity.  F-1 foreign students with Optional Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT) work authorization may not be eligible for unemployment benefits because, by definition, those services are performed by F-1 students as an integral part of their academic program. 您是我第一个听说opt去申请失业金的，h1b一般都不申请，绿卡有些为了避嫌妨碍以后转公民也都不申请。。。

楼主，opt不用纠结这个eligibility，opt是不能领失业金的。即使政府搞错了给你approve了，你最好是cancel掉，如果真的拿了钱还回去，把往来邮件和文件都保存好。如果将来绿卡面试问到，解释说自己一开始搞错了，但发现问题之后及时纠正了。不然万一等到申请绿卡的时候因为这件事情被拖延或者拒掉得不偿失。

F, opt, H1b,不可以拿失业金。要牢牢记住！

想太美了吧。。。

opt拿到stimulus check都吓得还回去了 楼主还敢拿失业金。。。
h1b申请还会问你有没有拿过benefits呢。。

可能楼主根本没想过要在美国呆长久，领个失业金过两年回国美滋滋？
