关于UCLA ECE是否需要提交两篇文书的问题

在地里基本没有看到有人讨论UCLA ECE两篇文书的问题，我把我的经验贴上来吧，如果有帮助的话求加米！！
先上结论：21fall UCLA ECE只用交SOP，可以不交PS

lz 21fall申请UCLA的ECE项目，在网申系统看到除了常规的文书也就是SOP以外，还需要提交一篇证明自己diversity的PS也就是personal history statement，并且如果不提交PS的话网申是没有办法提交的，然鹅lz作为再普通不过的小透明实在不知道自己哪来的diversity，后来在网上了解到这个项目实际上是为家境比较差的非裔/墨西哥裔同学申请助学金用的，作为中国自费生基本拿不到这个奖学金，于是楼主在官网上看到ECE系对PS是not require的状态，如下：


Personal History Statement
The personal history statement is part of the University application. It is not required by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. However, if a personal history statement is submitted as part of the application, it will be available for the review committee’s consideration and may be used as part of the evaluation. No updates of the personal history statement will be accepted. All applicants are encouraged to double-check all aspects of their application before submitting.


然鹅地里只能找到CS的文书要求是明确可以不交PS，只需要在网申界面上传空白文件或者重复SOP即可，所以lz发邮件咨询了小蜜，没想到回复还挺快的，一天就回了，我把回复贴在下面：


Dear XXX（人名已打码）,

We apologize for the confusion. Please follow the guidelines as listed on our department website.

Your Statement of Purpose can be up to two pages long. The ECE department does not require a Personal History Statement although, applicants may want to submit a Personal Statement if they're applying for one of the university fellowships listed on the fellowships section of the application.

You may upload a blank document to bypass the system.

可见PS是可以不用提交的！上传空白文件就行了！而且SOP不同于网申系统里面限制的500字，实际上是可以提交两页的！


ps.今年CS的PS要求好像和往年不一样，今年似乎是需要交的
