附上陶瓷信一封请大牛帮助修改 第一次写毫无经验
Dear Professor
. ----
I am a undergraduate student from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, and I have applied the CEE department in UT Austin. In fact, I have great interest in self-centering structures and the earthquake engineering. When I was a junior, I ever helped Adam Muller, who is a graduate student from Western Michigan University to fulfill his project about seismic research, which contains hybrid simulation and utilization of OpenSees. About the self-centering structure, I ever read some papers to prepare for my undergraduate project, such as Cyclic Testing and Assessment of Shape Memory Alloy Re-centering Systems written by Matthew S. Speicher, and Damage-Free Seismic-Resistant Self-Centering Concentrically-Braced Frames written by David Alan Roke. ..
However, because of the limited time, I have now chosen Incremental Damage Analysis Based on Mainshock-Aftershock Sequence- type Ground Motions as my research title. I will use real mainshock-aftershock sequence from PEER, and make a SDOF model with different hysteretic models, to analyse the incremental damage. This kind of method is so-called back-to-back methods. I am very glad to get your brilliant advice for this research.
In the future, if possible, after my graduate study, I would like to pursue my doctorate study also in the area of earthquake engineering, and developing more seismic-proof structures such as the self-centering structure. As you know, China is a country with a lot of catastrophic earthquakes, especially in Sichuan, Tangshan, and many other places. That is why I want to join your research team, and really do something for the structural safety, people's lives and their happiness.
Looking forward to your reply. ..
Sincerely,
Harbin Institute of Technology.. Χ
