The Autonomous Systems and Control Lab (ASCL) at the University of Alabama currently has fully funded Ph.D. positions in the area of autonomous systems, control and machine learning, with start dates in Spring 2024 or Fall 2024. Specific research directions include but are not limited to - Data-driven modeling and control
- Nonlinear, robust, and adaptive control
- Planning and control under uncertainties
- Resilient autonomous systems
- Applications in aerospace (e.g., urban air mobility), robotics, and wind energy
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Strong background in at least one area of control theory, machine/reinforcement learning, aerospace systems, and robotics.
Preferred Qualifications- Strong communication (both verbal and written) skills
- Good programming skills in Matlab, Python, and/or C++
- Experience publishing papers in top journals and conferences
