Computer Engineering PhD Positions at Lehigh University

Advisor's bio: Dr. Yuntao Liu will join the ECE Department of Lehigh University as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2024. He is currently an Assistant Research Scientist with the Institute for Systems Research, University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). He received his Bachelor's in EE from Zhejiang University, China, in 2014 and PhD in ECE from UMD in 2020. He was granted the prestigious Ann G. Wylie Dissertation Fellowship from UMD. His research interests include hardware security, artificial intelligence (AI), and electronic design automation (EDA). He has published extensively in refereed journals and conferences on various topics in these fields, such as hardware intellectual property protection, hardware-based attacks on AI, hardware Trojans, and side-channel attacks. He has served on the Technical Program Committee of HOST 2024 and his research contributions have been recognized by a Best Paper Award at CCSW 2020 and a Best Paper Nomination at DAC 2021.


导师简介：刘运韬博士将在2024年秋季学期加入理海大学电气与计算机工程系担任助理教授。是马里兰大学帕克分校系统研究所的助理研究科学家。他于2014年在浙江大学获得电子信息工程专业学士学位和竺可桢学院荣誉学位，并于2020年在马里兰大学帕克分校获得电气工程博士学位。他曾获得马里兰大学帕克分校颁发的安·G·怀利博士论文奖学金。他的研究兴趣包括硬件安全、人工智能（AI）和电子设计自动化（EDA）。他在硬件知识产权保护，基于硬件的对AI的攻击，硬件特洛伊木马，侧信道攻击等方向上发表了大量经过审稿的期刊和会议论文。他曾参与2024年HOST会议论文评审，他的研究贡献曾获得CCSW 2020年最佳论文奖和DAC 2021年最佳论文提名。


Regarding the PhD position:

• You will be fully funded. RA will be the major type of funding. You may be supported with TA or fellowship for some semesters.
• The annual stipend will be approximately $34k, higher than the US average.
• You will also be covered under health insurance, which is very important in the US.
• Cost of living is very reasonable around campus. The area is also close to NYC (1.5h) and Philadelphia (1h), which provides great work life balance.

Research directions: Your general research area will be hardware security. You will be able to define your research problems with the help of the advisor.

Qualification:

• Strong motivation for research.
• Solid knowledge of digital logic and computer architecture.
• Strong hands-on skills in hardware and software are preferred.
• Strong mathematical analysis capability is preferred.
• Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning models is preferred.

楼主这个“有医保”什么意思？美国大学的RA/TA都必须要有医保，不购买医保是不给入学的。关键是学校给cover多少，有学校几乎全额cover，学生每学期自己只要掏一两百美元，也有学校要求学生必须自掏腰包每学期两千的（已经是full RA了）。所以这个医保请楼主说清楚。除此之外，学校一般也要学生交fee，多的每学期一两千美元的都有，你们学校每个学期要学生交多少fee，也请一并说清楚。

支持一下。刘教授研究生期间是属于聪明的用功型，决不是一味地卷工作时长。相信也会是一个好的导师！

Lehigh博士生医保都是固定的 首先要自己交或者每两周从工资里抵扣 然后每个学期末返还给你80%（前提是你能维持学生身份的情况下）
