5th Ph.D. offer from UT-Austin

没谈钱，但是我是PHD applicant啊。。。也没让我找老板。。不知道什么个意思，原文如下：
“Your application to the Graduate Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) has received a favorable evaluation from the
admissions committee of the A track. I am pleased to inform that I have recommended to the Dean
of Graduate Studies that you be admitted into our program for the Fall 2019 semester to pursue a PhD degree in the A Track of
ECE. Upon his approval, which depends in part upon successful completion of all Graduate and International Admissions Center
(GIAC) requirements, you are required to mail your official transcript(s) and award(s) of degree to the GIAC.

Questions regarding the current research activities in your area and the various graduate courses offered are best directed to Dr. XX. Until you find a supervising professor, Professor XX is the faculty member responsible for guiding you through the program. Please note that changing your academic track requires a faculty sponsor and approval of said
track's admissions committee. Questions regarding procedures and administrative matters can be answered by the staff of the ECE
Graduate Office. I strongly urge you to make plans to arrive early to attend orientations and prepare for registration. You will
receive more specific information from various offices in the next few months.”
Austin的，还是要考虑下。。。有点犹豫。。我个人觉得Austin和EPFL学校差不多，但是可能地理位置确实区别很大，当然我的看法也有偏差。
我提个问题，如果Austin的导师和EPFL导师差一些，大佬们会选哪里呢？如果不考虑美国因素的话，又会是哪个呢？我挺喜欢欧洲那种学徒制风格的，学生与导师会建立长久的亲密的合作关系，因为想去学术圈，比较倾向这种方式，我的认识里，也可能是我的谬误与想当然：美国的phd培养给我其他的一种感觉把，我说不上来，但是我感觉国内风格和美帝越来越像了（我觉得我现在实验室就挺像的，只不过不同的是我国内老板对我很好，算是以后如果学术圈回来的立身基础那种）。。

PS. Umich  TAMU已decline掉。so，no way back to the previous ones....

我说差一些可能是EPFL那边最高能发Science Nature 子刊这种，PRL发的还是很多，Austin这个老板最高能发PRL（物理大佬别打我。。），主要发Trans 水平（就我现在情况吧。。）

走工业，直接奥斯汀不犹豫。走学术可以EPFL，看你喜欢北美还是欧洲的生活

听说加州技术企业外迁，德州前景很不错。Texas Instrument，华为公司也在德州，您有无限种可能！（我等UT心都碎了）

有了Caltech还要什么Austin，我还在pending Caltech呢。。

我也受到了PhD 的AD 没谈钱的问题，不知道该怎摸办，申请TA好像必须得到了学校，参加口语考试通过后才能给employment

同MS（followed by phd）AD没钱。
回复我说：
No financial aid award has been offered to you. Please note that our fellowship and assistantship awards are extremely competitive for Graduate students entering your first year of study, and that no separate application was required on your part in order to be considered for the fellowships and assistantships available to our newly-applying students. The admissions committee evaluates applicants concurrently for admission and financial support, and consideration does not require you to contact us directly in order to have your application evaluated for a fellowship or assistantship.

Please note that If you do not receive an award of financial support for your first year of study, it is important not to get discouraged. Once you take the classes of the professor(s) you’re interested in working with, and they are able to survey your achievement, this allows you to be considered for funding in your second year. Students usually find your supervising professor in your second semester, which avails you the opportunity to join his or research group, which increases your chances of receiving a fellowship or an assistantship.

也就是说第一年自费，第二年会有RA。。。。

我是Phd。。不过没谈funding  MS有奖太6了把。。。
