Multiple RA positions with full financial support are available at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA).


RA positions at the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Arlington are available from Fall 2023. These research assistantships are to work with Dr. Jia Rao toward Ph.D. degrees by conducting research in Operating Systems, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Big Data, and High-Performance Computing.
Desirable applicants should have B.S. or above degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related fields, and strong motivation toward high-quality research. The related research work in Dr. Rao’s lab requires good programming skills and computer systems knowledge. Dr. Rao’s research interests lie in the broad area of Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, and Parallel Computing, particularly focusing on improving resource management and scheduling in Cloud and Big Data systems. Dr. Rao’s work has been published in top-tier computer systems conferences, such as EuroSys, USENIX ATC, SoCC, HPCA, PPoPP, PACT, HPDC, Middleware, INFOCOM, APSys, VEE, SC, ICAC, ICDCS, IPDPS, and won the best paper awards in APSys, ICAC, and the best paper nominations in HPCA and HPDC. Dr. Rao recently won an NSF CAREER award and has a joint project with Intel on the next-generation compute express link (CXL) memory technologies.
